Storm damage you cannot see from the ground

Hail bruising does not always break the shingle. It knocks the granules loose and beats up the mat underneath, and from the driveway the roof still looks fine. Wind does the same thing at the nail line: tabs get lifted and reseal crooked, so water gets a path in without anything looking wrong.

By the time a stain shows up on a ceiling, the storm may be a year or two back and the window to file a claim may already be closed. After a hail or wind event, it is worth having somebody get up there and look.
